UK GDPR and your data rights

Clear information about your repair, your rights and how we look after your data.

Last updated: 13 September 2026

Wepairs is based in the UK and handles personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended. This page explains what those laws mean for you as a customer, and how to use your rights. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what we collect and why.

Who controls your information

Wepairs is the controller of the personal information you give us when you book, contact us or leave a device for repair. For any data protection question or request, email support@gadcet.com, call 01708 922786 or speak to staff at any of our stores.

The principles we follow

  • Lawful, fair and transparent: we tell you what we collect and why
  • Purpose limitation: we use information only for the reasons we gave
  • Data minimisation: we ask only for what we need to provide the service
  • Accuracy: you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong
  • Storage limitation: we keep records only as long as they are needed
  • Security: we protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access
  • Accountability: we can show how we meet these principles

Your rights

  • The right to be informed about how your information is used
  • The right of access: to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • The right to rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
  • The right to erasure: to ask us to delete information in certain circumstances
  • The right to restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • The right to data portability: to receive information you gave us in a portable format
  • The right to object, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing
  • Rights related to automated decision-making, including profiling; we do not make decisions about you using solely automated means

How to make a request

You can make a request by email, by phone or in person, and you do not need to use a particular form or wording. We may ask you to confirm your identity before releasing or changing information, so that your data is never given to the wrong person. Requests are free in most cases.

We aim to respond without undue delay and within one month. If a request is complex, or you make several requests, the law allows us to extend this by up to two further months; if that happens we will tell you within the first month and explain why.

Devices left with us for repair

Phones, tablets, laptops and consoles often hold personal data. Our technicians access a device only as far as needed to diagnose, repair and test it. We do not copy, browse or keep your files. Data recovery is carried out only when you ask for it. We recommend backing up and, where practical, signing out of accounts before a repair.

Keeping information secure

We restrict access to booking and repair records to authorised staff and use service providers that apply appropriate security. If a personal data breach is likely to put people at risk, we report it to the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours where the law requires, and tell affected customers without undue delay if the risk to them is high.

Service providers and international transfers

Some of the providers that host our website and booking systems may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.

Website translation

If you choose a language other than English from the language menu, the page you are viewing is sent to Google to be translated. Nothing is sent to Google unless you choose a language. See the Cookie Policy for details.

Marketing

We only send marketing messages where you have agreed to receive them, as required by PECR. You can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawing does not affect any repair you have booked.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
