Tablets used by children face drops, spills, tugged cables and sticky fingers. Most of the damage we repair is preventable with a bit of preparation.
Protect it properly
- A thick, shock-absorbing case with a raised edge around the screen
- A tempered glass screen protector
- A case with a handle or stand, so it is set down rather than dropped
- A short, sturdy charging cable that is less likely to be tripped over
Charging habits
- Charge on a table, not on a bed or sofa where heat builds up
- Unplug by holding the connector, not pulling the cable
- Avoid cheap, unbranded chargers
- Keep drinks away from the charging area
Check any guarantees first
Some tablets sold as kids’ editions come with a replacement or accidental damage guarantee. Check what yours includes before paying for a repair.
Common repairs we see
Cracked screens, loose charging ports and worn batteries are the most common. If the tablet is still in use and otherwise working, a repair is usually cheaper than replacing it, and it keeps the child's apps and settings in place.
